I am happy to share that a small research project, which began some time ago, has now found its conclusion in a newly published article co-authored with Emine Öncüler Yayalar.
In this article, we examine how care was reorganized through digital interfaces during the COVID-19 pandemic. We ask how digital platforms, applications, and mediated forms of communication reshaped everyday practices of care, and how these transformations produced new forms of both empowerment and disempowerment in relation to gender.
Rather than treating digitalization simply as a technical solution to the challenges of the pandemic, the article approaches digital care infrastructures as socio-technical arrangements. It shows how responsibilities, dependencies, and forms of visibility were redistributed through digital interfaces, especially in ways that affected women’s care work and everyday lives.
The article has been published in Sosyoloji Araştırmaları Dergisi:

On this occasion, we would also like to warmly thank all colleagues who have cited our work, supported us in different ways, and accompanied the broader conversations that made this article possible. Our sincere thanks also go to the peer reviewers for their careful engagement with the manuscript and their constructive feedback.
