Following an inspiring workshop on neurotechnologies in 2022, which brought together researchers, practitioners, artists, and technology developers from diverse backgrounds, we have continued our discussions on the societal, ethical, and experiential dimensions of neurotechnology. I am delighted that our collaborative paper has now been published:

In this article, we argue for moving beyond purely technical and clinical perspectives on neurotechnology by placing users’ experiences, expectations, and needs at the center of analysis. We also explore neurotechnology as an emerging societal field that calls for new forms of collaboration across science, medicine, engineering, the arts, and society at large.

This publication is the result of a truly interdisciplinary collaboration involving colleagues from neuroengineering, medicine, philosophy, Science and Technology Studies (STS), Technology Assessment, art, and design.

I am grateful to have been part of that workshop. Thanks to my wonderful colleagues. It has been a privilege to contribute to such an inspiring and thoughtful collective effort.
